Fasting Prayer is an integral part of many leading religions
in the world today. However Fasting Prayer has become a fading
discipline in modern Christian life. The Almighty God had
commanded His people that they should fast from the 9th day
to the 10th day of the 7th month for 24 hours for the “atonement
of their sins" (Leviticus 16:29,30; 23:32). Again we
find God exhorting His people to fast and pray and repent
for their sins so that He could bless them (Joel 1:14; 2:12;
2:15). The Holy Bible describes around 60 fasting prayers
of different durations. It teaches us of kings and queens,
prophets and apostles, individuals, and even nations as a
whole, who had fasted. Above all Jesus Christ himself had
fasted when He came into the world and taught us that by fasting
and prayer any binding or bondage of Satan can be broken no
matter how strong it may be (Mathew 17:21). The Inter Denominational
Christian Fellowship thus, strives to set fasting prayers
as an integral part of the spiritual walk of the children
of God, keeping them in holiness through repentance, reformation
and renewal, protecting them from the attacks of the devil
and leading a life filled with the Holy Spirit showing the
power and presence of Jesus Christ to the world. |
